BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – IU Auditorium’s Audience Engagement Department is partnering with local music therapist Valerie Jones as well as local IU student performers for a special tour of senior living facilities in Bloomington and Martinsville with a program titled The Season Showcase. This marks the third year that IU Auditorium has put together a tour of visits with these communities.

 

Stops will take place at Evergreen Village at Bloomington on August 26, Brickyard Bloomington, Grand Valley Health, and Rehab in Martinsville on August 28, and then on August 29 at Gentry Park Senior Living and Hearthstone Health Campus.

 

In celebration of the 2026–2027 Auditorium season, senior program participants will enjoy a sampling of performances that showcase the exciting season ahead. The program will feature songs inspired by upcoming Auditorium shows, including Waitress, Legally Blonde – The Musical, and Jazz at Lincoln Center Presents World on a String: Swinging Songs of Broadway. Local performers Nick Najera, Mia Stewart, Ray Fellman, and Jones will bring these selections to life during an hour-long program at each tour stop.

 

Performers will bring Legally Blonde to life as participants wave pink scarves, explore the music of Bizet’s Carmen with castanets and egg shakers, and celebrate Waitress through song and a playful pie-inspired songwriting activity. A jazz ensemble puts its own spin on Broadway favorites before everyone joins in for a rousing finale to Bizet’s “Toreador Song.”

Throughout the 2025–2026 season, the Auditorium's audience engagement team hosted more than 100 engagement events throughout the season including an orchestral residency, pre-show talks, artist masterclasses and Q&A’s, visits to senior living centers, Auditorium Kids on Campus program for local middle students, high school technical theatre workshops, and more. In all, these programs were attended by nearly 8,000 community members of all ages throughout the entire state of Indiana. These efforts are expanding further than ever before, and IU Auditorium strives to continue to enhance these programs this upcoming season and beyond!
