Education & Engagement

At Indiana University Auditorium, we aim to inspire curiosity, creativity, and connection on campus and beyond. Through school partnerships, community collaborations, and accessible arts experiences, we connect audiences of all ages to the transformative power of live performance.

Cast and Crew Workshops

IU Auditorium offers unique opportunities for students and community members to engage directly with touring Broadway performers and other visiting artists. Through post-show talkbacks, masterclasses, panel discussions, interactive workshops, and more, participants gain firsthand insight into the creative process, technical artistry, and real-world experiences of professionals working on and off the stage.

Auditorium Kids on Campus

Annually, IU Auditorium provides the opportunity for local middle school students to attend a special daytime performance featuring our visiting artists and performers. Launched in 2019, this immersive program has connected our communities to world-renowned artists such as Alvin Ailey Dance Theater, Dance Theatre of Harlem, and more. Auditorium Kids on Campus often serves as a first live performing arts experience, a first visit to IU Auditorium, and a welcoming introduction to a university campus for our local students.

Pre-Show Talks

Before every season show, guests can experience an engaging pre-show talk that provides context and a deeper understanding of the performance. These free events are led by local scholars and industry professionals and take place one hour before curtain and end 15 minutes before the show to allow time for guests to get to their seats.

Kids Night on Broadway

Each year, IU Auditorium welcomes the community’s next generation of arts lovers through our doors with Kids Night on Broadway, a family-friendly interactive pre-show experience connected to one of our season shows. Visiting children and their families can participate in a number of activities in our lobby prior to the performance, including arts and crafts, puzzles, interactive games, and educational activities.

Senior Move and Groove Sessions

IU Auditorium extends the joy of live performance to local senior living communities. From intimate performances and artist visits to music therapy sessions and move and groove programs, these on-site events foster connection, spark memories, and ensure that the senior members of our community continue to experience the power of the arts.

Established in 2013 and funded through individual giving, Give the Magic gives back to our local communities by providing free tickets to underserved youth and their caregivers to attend an IU Auditorium performance each season. In 2024–2025 alone, Give the Magic provided over 1,500 tickets for distribution to local social service organizations, schools, and more.
