Facebook Live and Zoom Q&A with Touring Broadway Actress and IU Alumna Kaitlyn Louise Smith

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – IU Auditorium will host its sixth Facebook Live and Zoom Q&A event with IU alumna and touring Broadway actress Kaitlyn Louise Smith on Thursday, July 23 at 8 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. CT. The event will go live on IU Auditorium’s Facebook page and will also be available through Zoom.

 

Smith, a 2016 Indiana University Musical Theatre graduate, is a current member of the first national tour company of Mean Girls which hopes to start back up in 2021. Previously, she has worked regionally in equity theatres around the country including Cardinal Stage and The MUNY in St. Louis. In 2018, she played the role of Tracy Turnblad in the inaugural production of Hairspray on Royal Caribbean's The Symphony of the Seas, the largest cruise ship in the world.

 

Smith graduated from IU with highest distinction. She was very involved throughout her years at IU, not only performing in numerous student productions including Guys and Dolls as Adelaide and Into the Woods as Little Red, but also was artistic director of the student theatre group University Players, director of the Hoosier Tap Company, and director of the Hutton Honors Council Association.

 

As a student, Smith was part of the IU Auditorium team working in the box office her final two years of college. Kaitlyn was featured in IU Alumni Magazine’s article “The Next Ten” in 2015 as one of IU’s most amazing and promising students. To this day, she continues to be involved with the IU Alumni Association and currently resides in New York City.
