About Kalabanté Productions

Founded by Guinean-born multidisciplinary artist Yamoussa Bangoura, Kalabanté Productions brings together circus arts, traditional African movement, and music in performances seen around the world. Bangoura’s journey began in Conakry, Guinea, where he taught himself circus techniques inspired by European broadcasts and the Nyamakala circus traditions of West Africa. His career later took him to international stages with companies including Cirque Éloize, Cirque du Soleil, and Cavalia, before he founded Kalabanté Productions in Montreal in 2007.

Today, Kalabanté Productions tours internationally and operates its own studio and school in Montreal, offering classes in African dance, cirque, and drumming. The company is also deeply committed to giving back, using its success to inspire others and support humanitarian efforts within the Guinean community.

With its powerful fusion of tradition and innovation, Afrique en Cirque promises an evening that is as moving as it is exhilarating. IU Auditorium is honored to welcome Kalabanté Productions and share this vibrant celebration of culture, community, and artistry with South-Central Indiana audiences.

Cirque Kalabanté at IU Auditorium is presented in partnership with Smithville Foundation, Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County, Inc., Morgenstern Books and Café, Baird Private Wealth Management, and Campus Tutoring Service.
