BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Singing Hoosiers are back as part of one of Bloomington’s longest-running traditions with Holiday Chimes at IU Auditorium for two performances on Saturday, December 6 at 2 and 7:30 p.m.

 

The annual concert has been a Bloomington holiday staple for over six decades and this year’s performance is sure to be full of festive cheer and musical brilliance. This heartwarming celebration features the Grammy-nominated Singing Hoosiers along with a variety of special guests from the Jacobs School of Music. The repertoire will feature selections from Elf the Musical and The Polar Express as well as other seasonal favorites.

 

“Ring in the season with The Singing Hoosiers Present Holiday Chimes, one of Bloomington’s favorite holiday traditions,” said IU Auditorium Executive Director, Maria Talbert. “Featuring the Singing Hoosiers with their special guests the IU Wind Ensemble and IU Trombone Choir, this heartwarming concert combines holiday classics, contemporary favorites, and choral masterpieces. This annual performance is the perfect way to celebrate the magic of the season with family and friends.” 

 

The Singing Hoosiers, directed by Dr. Chris Albanese, have entertained audiences across the United States and in more than 25 countries spanning Asia, Australia, Europe, and the Caribbean.

Pre-Show Talk with IU Jacobs School of Musical Doctoral Student Ben Wegner

Join us before the performance as Ben Wegner, doctoral student at the Jacobs School of Music and conductor of this year’s The Singing Hoosiers Present Holiday Chimes, leads a special pre-show talk. Ben will share the rich history of the Singing Hoosiers and their legacy at Indiana University, offering a deeper look into the tradition behind this beloved holiday celebration.
