Chimes of Christmas, Featuring the Singing Hoosiers, Returns to IU Auditorium December 4

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Bloomington holiday tradition Chimes of Christmas, featuring the Grammy-nominated Singing Hoosiers, returns to IU Auditorium Saturday, December 4 for two family-friendly shows at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

 

Chimes of Christmas will deliver a vast repertoire of holiday songs performed by the Singing Hoosiers and their special guests. The performers will deck the hall with a revue of contemporary songs, favorite carols, and classical choral arrangements sure to bring cheer to audiences of all ages. The concert will also feature performances by special guest groups including the IU Trombone Choir (Carl Lenthe, director), IU Wind Ensemble (Rodney Dorsey, conductor), and IU Children’s Choir (Julia Shaw, conductor).

 

The Singing Hoosiers, director by Dr. Chris Albanese, carry over half a century of tradition in contemporary vocal performance. As IU Jacobs School of Music’s oldest choral ensemble, the group has enchanted audiences all over the country and around the globe with performances in more than 18 states and 26 countries, including Europe, Australia, Asia, and the Caribbean.

 

“There is no better way to kick off a holiday season at IU Auditorium than with Chimes of Christmas,” said Doug Booher, Executive Director. “This event has brought immense joy to the community for years and we consider ourselves lucky to share a campus with such talented and renowned performers.”

 

Chimes of Christmas at IU Auditorium is presented with support from Riley Physicians and Southern Indiana Physicians. IU Auditorium’s 2021–2022 season is presented by Curry Auto Center, CFC Properties, The Herald-Times, B97, and World Arts Inc.
