Prior to the performances, Olivia Ekeh, an assistant professor in IU’s Department of African American and African Diaspora Studies, will explore Tina Turner’s life, legacy, and impact on music and culture. Drawing from her current book manuscript on the historical and aesthetic significance of the soul era, Ekeh will connect Tina’s artistry to the broader Black music tradition.
