Internships

Internships at IU Auditorium range from educational development to event planning and marketing. Students assist in many aspects of the Auditorium such as planning weddings in the lobby, brainstorming ideas, and implementing promotional activities for the season shows, as well as organizing educational opportunities with students and cast members of shows. They are involved in many facets of the day-to-day operations at IU Auditorium that provide them with great learning experiences and fun opportunities.

Customer Relations

  • Student Internship
  • Hours per week: 10-15
  • Starting hourly wage: unpaid
  • Basic duties: Respond to customer comments and questions via email, organize and maintain marketing archives, customer information handling
  • Requirements: Computer literacy (specifically Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel), basic knowledge of the Auditorium, interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills
  • Students will gain experience in the following areas: Customer Relations, Event Promotions and Marketing, CRIS database system

Production

  • Student Internship
  • Hours per week: 8-10, schedule to be arranged on a weekly basis to accommodate intern and Auditorium schedule
  • Starting hourly wage: unpaid
  • Basic duties: General office assistance to Auditorium stage manager including production file maintenance, facility maintenance, and operational file maintenance, review and highlight riders for current and upcoming Auditorium events, data entry
  • Requirements: Strong organizational skills, experience with MS Excel
  • Students will gain experience in the following areas: Stage management, familiarity with and implementation of contract riders, local labor administration, facility administration, road crew organization and administration

Marketing

  • Student Internship
  • Hours per week: 15-20
  • Starting hourly wage: unpaid to $7.50 an hour
  • Basic duties: Compile and organize market research, act as a go-between for the Auditorium Director and IU Marketing Services, organize and distribute box office data to Marketing Services, distribute and maintain supply of season promotion materials, other duties as assigned by Auditorium Director
  • Requirements: Computer literacy (specifically Microsoft Word and Excel), basic knowledge of the Auditorium, strong research skills, interpersonal skills, student should have access to a vehicle

Event Management

  • Student Internship
  • Hours per week: 20
  • Starting hourly wage: unpaid
  • Basic duties: Attend event planning meetings, create and update event planning documents, attend shows, especially rentals, and assist as needed. Assist with marketing the rentals for the Auditorium, assist with prospective client meetings and tours, assist with special projects as needed.
  • Requirements: Computer literacy, basic knowledge of the Auditorium and the arts, strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Students will gain experience in the following: event management, sales and marketing
