The Beach Boys
The Beach Boys
Event Description
From humble roots in Hawthorne, California, The Beach Boys have become an international sensation. Their famous harmonies and classic songs continue to travel the world bringing “Good Vibrations” everywhere. This newest tour finds the group performing its earliest surf rock classics, masterpieces like “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” and “God Only Knows” from perhaps the most acclaimed album of all time, Pet Sounds, later hits from the 70s and 80s like “Kokomo,” and brand new songs recently recorded for That’s Why God Made The Radio.
The Beach Boys signed with Capitol Records in July 1962 and released their first album, Surfin’ Safari, that same year. The album spent 37 weeks on the Billboard chart, launching the young group known for its shimmering vocal harmonies and relaxed California style into international stardom. Under Brian Wilson’s musical leadership, the band’s initial surf-rock focus was soon broadened to include many other themes, helping make The Beach Boys America’s preeminent band of the 1960s—and for more than five decades now, The Beach Boys have recorded and performed the music that has become the world’s favorite soundtrack to summer.
Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 and recipients of The Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award, The Beach Boys are a beloved American institution that remains iconic around the world. Impressively, The Beach Boys continue to hold the record as the top-selling American band for albums and singles, and they also have had more Billboard Top 40 chart hits than any other American group with 36.
Now, with The Beach Boys 50th Anniversary Tour and the release of That’s Why God Made The Radio, one of music’s greatest stories continues. And that’s only right because, as the record shows, “Good Vibrations” really are forever.
