Chaz Bono

Transition: How I Became a Man

Print This

Chaz Bono is a three-time author and a speaker on LGBT issues. The child of celebrity parents Cher and Sonny Bono, Chaz will describe his journey from being born female to becoming a man. His decision to come out as a lesbian in 1995 prompted his public work in support of LGBT rights and social justice. Bono has written three books including Transition, a candid account of his 40-year struggle to match his gender identity with his physical body and his transformation from being a woman to being man.

He will discuss his personal struggles and public responses to his decision, including death threats when it was announced he would appear on television’s Dancing with the Stars.

Books will be available for purchase and signing in the Auditorium lobby.
